2x4, Inc. is a collaborative studio of writers, designers, animators and programmers established in 1994 by Michael Rock, Susan Sellers and Georgianna Stout. Drawing on both high and low culture, the firm works in all graphic media for art, architecture, fashion and cultural clients. 2x4 created the Chatter Collection of wallcovering for KnollTextiles in 2004, featuring Pause.
In 2015, 2x4 worked closely with Knoll to expand the Modern Always® brand identity, including a series of iconic graphic collages. The identity work included a collection of seven ideas—What Drives Us—that continue to distinguish and guide Knoll.
